Wellness Wednesdays: My Atypical Practice

February 23, 2022

Ignite Liberty Medical Editor, Dr. David Jayne

I hope this does not bore you, but I wanted to explain why my practice is different to help you give a better idea of how I think. My Family practice started off typically enough after I finished my Family Practice Residency when I went to work as an employed physician for St. Anthony Hospital in Edmond. I had a traditional practice that accepted most insurance, Medicare, Tricare, and Medicaid. Over the ensuing 6 years I found out that I had an independent streak and chose to move to a Group Practice that provided a model closer to solo practice.

5 years later, I learned Acupuncture and my eyes were opened to reveal what I describe as “out of the box medicine”. I saw quickly that Acupuncture helped patients despite the adamant position of mainstream medicine that it did not. This started my quest to see what other treatments (those not officially sanctioned by the Ivory Tower bought and paid for experts, who dictate how all doctors are to practice) may help patients. I then added Aesthetic Procedures including Botox, Facial Fillers and Laser treatments. I then attended an Anti-aging conference, which exposed me to Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy (another mainstream medicine discredited treatment) which has transformed my practice. Prior to using BHRT, I would dole out all the “approved evidence-based medications” according to the accepted official cookbook provided by the government, the AMA, Big Pharma, and the Medical Organizations for Family Practice.

My practice has changed for the better ever since. When I was towing the accepted line, my patients were not happy with prescriptions for blood pressure medication, cholesterol medication, diabetes medication, and all the routine admonishments to diet, exercise and see me in 3 months. The process did not seem to lead to better health for the patients nor improvement in how they felt and led to emotional dissatisfaction for both of us. Something as simple as replacing the exact same hormones they had in their younger and healthier days leads to improvements in health, feeling better and greater satisfaction for both my patients and me.

The practice of Medicine became fun, and I began to look forward to seeing my patients since they reported improvement instead of the frustrating robotic visits that left me unfulfilled under the accepted evidence-based protocol. I added other rewarding services as time went on including Peptide Therapy. This therapy further adds to my patient’s health and well-being while not accepted by mainstream medicine. It has become obvious to me the mainstream medicine is not interested in or set up to improve our patient’s health or well-being. It appears that mainstream medicine’s goals align with the government, Big Pharma, insurance companies, medical education system, and the hospital systems. Tolerating patients seems to be a necessary evil so long as they line up and they do what they are told. If they ever questioned their care, they were informed that the evidence supporting the care (Big Pharma happened to pay for all the evidence via “research”) was science and anything other than following the science borders on a criminal offense (sound familiar?). What we are seeing now did not start with Covid 19, it has been going on for years.

As my distrust of the insurance companies grew, I decided to change the structure of my practice. I moved to a program that involves a yearly fee and fixed office visit fees. I resigned from all insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare plans. I did this to obtain the most freedom to treat my patients without the undue influence of the above parties. Most of the services I was adopting were not covered by insurance or the government, so the idea of paying cash for my services was not completely foreign to my patients. This allows me to make recommendations to my patients based on my knowledge and experience without being obligated to follow the dictates of groups that sit outside the exam room. I always believe the patient deserves this information from me and then they make the decision that is best for them.

I provide several services ala carte and patients that want to use their insurance and keep their current doctor may do so and see me just for Weight Loss, Aesthetic Procedures, BHRT, Peptide Therapy, early Covid 19 treatment, and some other services. The requirement to be a primary care patient is joining my practice via the yearly service.

I am unsure how much I helped my patients prior to my metamorphosis but I know that my care has improved over the last 15 years. I had no idea that the changes I was making at the time would put me in a position to help hundreds of Covid patients get early treatment despite the current narrative.

God helped guide me to make those decisions. It was a difficult transition and a leap of faith. With my obedience to God, I pray that I can continue to do the best I can for my patients while limiting the influences that do not add to their care.

Note: I would like to thank our Oklahoma Attorney General, John O’Connor for his statement released below (see link). I also would like for you to show your support for his courage and to strongly consider supporting him in his re-election bid in November. He is on our side.
